This forum will provide the community with information about the proposed Police Accountability Board, an update on its status, and next steps to get involved. There will be time for Q&A.

The proposed Police Accountability Board requires 5 pillars:

  1. an independent agency of city government, separate from RPD
  2. independent investigative authority
  3. subpoena power
  4. disciplinary power using a disciplinary matrix
  5. power to assess RPD policies and procedures and make recommendations

The Police Accountability Board Alliance is also recommending that the proposed PAB be given adequate resources. The ordinance calls on Rochester City Council to approve a budget at the equivalency of 1% of the RPD budget. That's about $1 million dollars. The RPD budget hovers around $100 million.

We are raising money for a legal expenses and PAB related costs. Please donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/pab-legal-opinion-fund?utm_source=internal&utm_medium=email&utm_content=campaign_link_t&utm_campaign=welcome

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on October 3!
