I would like to do a 24-hour drama performance in space. In a nutshell the goal of the event is to write, rehearse, block, and perform a play all in 24 hours. This is not an original idea. I did two in college and three while I was in high school. The schedule of increments for how the whole thing would work is approximately as follows. The first 12 hours consists of the writing of the plays. I'm thinking 3 to 4 writers. Each play should be about a half hour. (Note: I can understand that staying in the space overnight might be problematic, so this aspect doesn't need to be done exclusively in the space. It can be helpful though to write in the place wear performance is supposed to take place for conceptual purposes if that is possible.) The directors then come in and take an hour to select which play they want to put on. The actors then come in and audition for an hour. Once cast, the next 6 hours are rehearsing, blocking and memorization. The next two hours after that are a dress rehearsal. The final two hours are the actually performances. That is the idea. I've done it before and I'd love to do it again.
