What is Rochester Black Rose / Rosa Negra?
Rochester, NY local branch of the Black Rose Anarchist Federation/Federacion Anarquista Rosa Negra, a proud affiliate of the Anarkismo network.
Long Description

Rochester Red and Black was founded in 2011. Starting in 2012, we became a part of a regroupment process between several Class Struggle Anarchist organizations. This process resulted in the recent formation of the Black Rose Anarchist Federation. We will be transitioning our name from Rochester Red & Black to Rochester Black Rose to reflect this.

Mission
We are an organization of revolutionaries who share common visions of a new world - a world where people collectively control our workplaces, communities and land and where all basic needs are met. A world where power and participation flow from the bottom upwards and society is organized for people’s aspirations, passions, and needs rather than profit, racial prejudice, patriarchy, or imperialism; and where we live sustainably with the planet.

We believe that this vision can only be brought about through the revolutionary power of the working class organized in the workplaces, community, schools, and streets to overthrow the state and capitalism and build a new world from the bottom up.

As those actively seeking to construct this vision we are inspired by the traditions of anarchist communism, anarcho-syndicalism, feminism, queer liberation, abolitionism, anti-racism and their history of global struggle for liberation. We believe in the need for a political home from which to organize ourselves and put forward our vision. We believe in the need to create spaces for the development of new revolutionaries that allow the grouping together of similarly minded militants. We see the need to build a specifically anarchist organization united around a common set of ideas, strategy, and practice. We believe that political organization should speak to the needs of our time, and act as a catalyst in struggles to expand their revolutionary potential. Political organization should be a vehicle to build, contribute to, and learn from social struggles.

Somos una organización de revolucionarias y revolucionarios quienes compartimos visiones comunes de un mundo nuevo – un mundo donde controlemos nuestros lugares de trabajo, comunidades y tierras y donde se satisfagan todas las necesidades básicas. Un mundo donde el poder y la participación fluyan desde abajo hacia arriba y la sociedad se organice por las aspiraciones, pasiones y necesidades de la gente en vez de las ganancias, los prejuicios raciales, el patriarcado o el imperialismo; y donde vivamos en unas relaciones sostenibles con el planeta.

Creemos que aquella visión solo se puede llevar a cabo a través del poder revolucionario de la clase obrera organizada en los lugares de trabajo, las comunidades, las escuelas y las calles para derrocar el estado y el capitalismo y construir un mundo nuevo desde abajo hacia arriba.

Como personas buscando construir esta visión estamos inspiradas por las tradiciones del comunismo libertario, el anarcosindicalismo, el feminismo, la liberación “queer,” el abolicionismo, el anti-racismo y sus historias de lucha global por la liberación. Creemos en la necesidad de un hogar político de donde organizarnos y proponer nuestra visión. Creemos en la necesidad de crear espacios para el desarrollo de nuevas revolucionarias que permitan el agrupamiento de militantes con ideas afines. Vemos la necesidad de construir una organización específicamente anarquista unida alrededor de una serie común de ideas, estrategias y prácticas. Creemos que la organización política debe dirigirse a las necesidades de nuestros tiempos, y actuar como un catalizador en las luchas para expandir su potencial revolucionaria. Las organizaciones políticas deben ser vehículos para construir, contribuir y aprender de las luchas sociales.
